Are you wishing you had a meaningful way to make the holiday brighter for struggling area families with children?
We have your answer: HOST A FAMILY!
Host A Family is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable, volunteer run organization that was founded in 1981. Each year, in December, we facilitate an anonymous gift giving event that benefits families in need.
We serve families with children (18 and under or still in K12) who live in the following communities WITHIN DANE COUNTY:
Albion, Belleville, Brooklyn, Cambridge, Deerfield, McFarland, Oregon and Stoughton
Families are referred to our program through social workers from Dane County and area schools, as well as churches, friends and relatives.
We recruit volunteers to be matched anonymously with needy area families to provide gifts for the holiday season. We ask for gifts for each member of the family who lives under the same roof as the children. Hosts can be individuals, extended families, school groups, church congregations, civic groups or businesses. Hosts tell us how large a family they would like to help at the suggested spending amount of $40 per family member. The hosts then receive a Family Profile which has a “wish list” for each family member. The hosts then shop and drop off the gifts at a designated time and place in Stoughton and the gifts are picked up later by the recipient family.
The 2015 drop off dates and times are:
Thursday, December 10th, between 3 and 6pm
Friday, December 11th, between 9am and 1pm
At LakeView Church in Stoughton
If you are unable to host a family by providing gifts, we also accept cash donations. The donations are used to provide for families that we are unable to match and to help needy area families throughout the year.
